PRIMARY PURPOSE
Blanco ISD is seeking a passionate and dedicated High School Science Teacher to inspire and educate students while fostering their intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. The primary purpose of this role is to provide students with meaningful learning activities and experiences that help them reach their full potential and develop the skills necessary for success in school and beyond.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Certification
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for the assigned subject and level
- Preferred: ESL certification
Special Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of assigned science subjects and curriculum
- General understanding of curriculum design and instructional strategies
- Ability to effectively manage student behavior and engagement
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of student teaching or an approved internship
- Demonstrated competency in the assigned core academic subject area
Major Responsibilities & Duties
Instructional Strategies
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with district curriculum, incorporating clear evidence of preparation
- Adapt lessons and use instructional materials to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs
- Deliver instruction in accordance with Texas Education Agency (TEA) guidelines, board policies, and administrative regulations
- Conduct learning style assessments and apply results directly to instructional planning
Student Growth & Development
- Assist students in improving study methods and habits
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement using both formal and informal methods
- Serve as a positive role model and take responsibility for assigned extracurricular activities
Classroom Management & Organization
- Create a supportive, safe, and engaging classroom environment
- Manage student behavior in alignment with the Student Code of Conduct and campus guidelines
- Ensure the proper care and safety of students, equipment, and materials
Communication & Collaboration
- Maintain open, effective communication with students, parents, colleagues, and the community
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance job-related skills
- Attend faculty meetings and actively serve on assigned committees
Supervisory Responsibilities
Work Environment & Mental Demands
- Tools & Equipment: Standard office and classroom technology; science laboratory equipment; potential for exposure or handling of hazardous materials
- Physical Demands: Prolonged sitting, standing, walking; occasional bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling; light lifting (under 15 lbs)
- Motion: Repetitive hand motions and frequent computer usage
- Environment: Frequent districtwide travel; occasional statewide travel
- Mental Demands: Ability to handle frequent interruptions and maintain emotional control under stress.
