Description

Blanco ISD is seeking a passionate and dedicated High School Science Teacher/Coach to inspire and educate students while fostering their intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Coaching responsibilities may include a combination of high school volleyball, basketball, and track.

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE:  Provide students with meaningful learning activities and experiences to help them reach their full potential and develop the skills necessary for success in school and beyond.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education/Certification:

- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for the assigned subject and level
- ESL certification preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:

- Strong knowledge of assigned subjects and curriculum
- General understanding of curriculum design and instructional strategies
- Ability to effectively manage student behavior and engagement
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience:

- Minimum of one year of student teaching or an approved internship
- Demonstrated competency in the assigned core academic subject area

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

 

Instructional Strategies:

1. Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with the district curriculum, incorporating evidence of preparation.
2. Adapt lessons to accommodate different student learning styles.
3. Deliver instruction following Texas Education Agency guidelines, board policies, and administrative regulations.
4. Use instructional strategies and materials that reflect diverse learning needs.
5. Conduct learning style assessments and apply results to instructional planning.

Student Growth and Development:

6. Assist students in improving study methods and habits.
7. Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal methods.
8. Take responsibility for assigned extracurricular activities and serve as a positive role model.

Classroom Management and Organization:

9. Create a supportive and engaging classroom environment.
10. Manage student behavior according to the Student Code of Conduct and campus guidelines.
11. Ensure the safety and care of students, equipment, and materials.

Communication and Collaboration:

12. Maintain effective communication with students, parents, colleagues, and the community.
13. Participate in professional development to enhance job-related skills.
14. Attend faculty meetings and serve on committees as required.

 

COACHING RESPONSIBILITIES:


- Lead, organize, and coach high school volleyball, basketball, and track teams.
- Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and student-athlete growth on and off the field.

 

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:


- Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office and classroom technology
- Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling
- Motion: Repetitive hand motions and frequent computer use
- Lifting: Light lifting (less than 15 lbs)
- Environment: Frequent districtwide travel; occasional statewide travel
- Mental Demands: Ability to work with interruptions and maintain emotional control under stress
